“Discover Potential. Build Confidence. Create Opportunity.”
The Be The Ladder Foundation works with schools and communities to identify promising young individuals and support them to develop confidence, character and leadership.
Through targeted programmes, enrichment opportunities and practical support, we help pupils grow, and open pathways that may otherwise be out of reach.
Recognising the widening attainment gap as students transition from primary to secondary school, the foundation provides early interventions that help prevent educational disengagement and a diminished sense of ownership over their learning experience.
WHAT WE DO
Be The Ladder identifies and supports young people with emerging potential, particularly where that potential may not yet be fully recognised.
Working in partnership with primary schools, secondary schools and enrichment providers, we deliver programmes that develop:
Confidence and self-belief
Communication and social skills
Aspiration and ambition
Leadership and responsibility
Alongside this, we provide practical support that removes barriers to opportunity, including:
Funding for educational visits and residential experiences
Access to sports, drama and enrichment programmes
Transition support for pupils entering secondary school, including resource packs
Our aim is simple: to ensure that promising young people are given the opportunities, experiences and encouragement needed to thrive.
WHY IT MATTERS
Many young people have the potential to succeed but lack the access to the opportunities that enable that potential to flourish
Without the right support:
confidence can remain underdeveloped
aspirations can be limited
opportunities can be missed
By intervening early and working closely with schools and families, Be The Ladder helps to:
broaden horizons
build confidence
create meaningful pathways for future success
This is not only transformative for individuals, but beneficial for the wider community.
How it works
Be The Ladder provides a structured and supportive framework, delivered in partnership with schools.
-
Working with school leaders and teachers, we identify pupils who demonstrate emerging potential, including those whose strengths may not be fully reflected in academic attainment alone.
We are also developing innovative AI tools, in collaboration with educators, to support fair and thoughtful identification.
-
Pupils take part in a structured programme designed to build:
confidence in social and academic settings
communication and interpersonal skills
resilience and independence
leadership behaviour
This is supported through mentoring, coaching and guided opportunities.
-
Tailored tutoring to help students reach age-appropriate attainment levels, initiated only after creative activities have enhanced their self-esteem.We ensure that pupils can access experiences that are known to support development, including:
educational visits and residential programmes
sports and performing arts opportunities
enrichment experiences beyond the classroom
Where financial or practical barriers exist, Be The Ladder provides support to remove them.
-
We support pupils at key stages, particularly the transition into secondary school, through:
tailored resource packs
guidance to support confidence and readiness
continued encouragement and connection
-
As pupils grow in confidence, they are encouraged to:
take on leadership roles
support and mentor peers
contribute positively to their school and community
